The Incandescent

Hey! Read this!
Last week Augur had the opportunity to sit down with the wonderful team from Hey! read this. podcast. to talk about one of his favorite books of the year, “The Incandescent” by Emily Tesh.
The novel was presented as: “Magical school from the perspective of the teachers,” and while it is that, it’s so very much more.
It’s about finding meaning in adulthood while still honoring the child inside, it’s about carving out islands of decency in an unforgiving world, and it’s about learning to change, even when that change hurts.
You should read it. (You should also read Tesh’s Hugo-winning science fiction epic, “Some Desperate Glory.”)
Hey! read this. is a monthly podcast where people who love books get to share their favorites with each other. Each episode is a delightful exploration of both the book in question, and of the reasons that the guest selected it.
It’s a great inspiration for anyone looking for their next book, and is particularly relevant to anyone going on the Cincinnati Bookstore Crawl this weekend.
